Awkwafina Awkwafina, an American actor and singer, began by releasing a humorous rap track which dealt with the subject of sexuality and race. The career of the singer and actress grew to Hollywood following the release of an album of raps. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese and Korean parents who hail from Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was her first instrument. In addition to classical and jazz, Nora Lum started to study hip-hop during her teens. While at school, she majored in journalism, and women's studies, and was taking classes in Mandarin in Beijing during a brief time. After graduation, she begin to concentrate on music. The track My Vag, a response track to the Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity through the Internet in 2012. The track was later included on her first album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. The album also included popular hits that went viral, such as body-positive Queef or the winking city tour New York Bitche$. The track that was second on the album linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide that was published in 2015. This was a different initiative. With musician and author in her portfolio, she decided to set her sights on a third endeavor actor. In addition to early shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she was also in films like Neighbors 2. Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018 she landed her first major role in a number of high-profile films like Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she released her first film In Fina We Trust.
